Sea turtles & seafood…
Posted by admin under: Uncategorized .
What could be better than spending the day visiting islands in Thailand? Ok, it might have been better if the sea wasn’t so rocky (I can still feel the boat moving sitting here in front of the computer)… but other than that, it was a great day! After a few weeks of ministry and lots of hard work, our team took the day to go on an all-day boat trip with 20 members of the Bangkok Vineyard (they drove down this morning and joined us here in Rayong). It was a beautiful day… despite the poor weather forecasts and the windy rainy days we’ve been having lately. We visited ‘Turtle Island’ where they’re working to repopulate endangered sea turtles. Then, headed to ‘Talu Island’ for swimming, snorkeling and jumping off the 3rd story of the boat. It was a great day of fun and fellowship with the Bangkok Vineyard and a fun day of rest for the team.
Yesterday we spent most of the day planning for and then doing ministry at a local school. We worked with 60 4th graders who are learning English as part of an immersion curriculum at school. Our purpose there was to help them learn English from native speakers, but took the chance (as much as we had liberty) to use Bible stories and show God’s love to them. It ended up being a wonderful time… although our team was pretty worn out! The teacher who’d invited us was really happy with all we did and invited us back (and made us very yummy shrimp & squid pad thai!). This was a huge compliment because other mission groups have done things in the past to destroy the church’s relationship with public schools here in Rayong. Paise God that he lead us in what to say, do and how to act. We just pray that all of those kids know the love of the Father through our short time with them.
We’ll be here in Rayong just one more day for a big team debrief, then off to Bangkok for a quick visit and to catch our flights home (or to wherever we’re going next). I almost can’t believe we only have a few days left, but at the same time, our flight here seems like forever ago… we’ll miss it here for sure, but look forward to seeing you all and sharing our stories with you!

I am so happy you are having some rest time, and enjoying God’s creation. Sea turtles are awesome arn’t they?
I pray for a safe return to us, and see you soon!
